Cross Me And watch
This jewellery project explores contemporary vape culture through a playful, satirical lens, using acrylic and components salvaged from discarded disposable vapes. Working intuitively with colour and form, Walton revalues a rapidly growing waste stream by transforming it into bold, tactile adornment that invites both visual and physical engagement. Drawing on references ranging from prayer beads and historical jewellery to contemporary fashion, the work blurs distinctions between ornament, status object, and social critique. By dismantling and repurposing vape materials, the project addresses issues of consumption, waste, and responsibility, while using scale, humour, and vibrant colour as a visual language to communicate personal observations about youth culture and material excess.
